Assembly Bill 277 as amended would have changed zoning laws so that rural areas adjacent to National Conservation Areas like Red Rock Canyon, Sloan Canyon, and the Black Rock Desert are protected from irresponsible development. The bill would have required a higher standard from local government when approving plans within a half-mile radius of any national conservation area. This bill would have kept some of Nevada’s treasured outdoor areas safe from sprawl and development.
